The Alpine Ski Team has changed a lot over the years from its beginnings in the 1930’s to the present day, but throughout that time there have been some constants: great skiers, consistently high results, lasting memories, and amazing examples of student leadership. These opportunities have been available to UBC athletes for years due to continued Alumni support and dedication to preserving the ski team experience.
The 2014/15 team continued a legacy of ‘Skibird’ success through to the USCSA National Championships at Mt. Bachelor, Oregon in March 2015 where Sandra Gerlich had (3) top 15 results, including a gold medal in the parallel slalom event.
Now for the 2015/16 season, as the Team evolves yet again as a ‘competitive club’ instead of Varsity, athletes hope to have exciting opportunities to further their abilities and improve their results on both the collegiate and FIS circuits. With the continued support of UBC Athletics and donors from both within and beyond our alumni circle, the Team’s efforts will continue to put UBC on the podium internationally. Consider making your contribution to the continued success of this team.
